Economic Growth Fund application form

The Surrey Economic Growth Fund is now open for applications across three funding streams.

  • Business Growth Grants
  • Future Surrey Fund
  • Innovation Spaces Fund

We are seeking bold, innovative ideas that will drive sustainable economic growth across the county and align with Surrey’s strategic priorities.

All applications will go through a two-stage process which starts with an Expression of Interest (EOI). The submission deadline for EOIs is 31 May 2025, but we welcome applications at any point, and these will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Stage 1:

We are looking for high-level overviews of innovative proposals and your EOI will be reviewed by the team for eligibility. As part of the EOI application form below, we will ask you about what you would like to do with the funding, and why you are applying. You might find it easiest to first type out this information and save it as a separate document before copying and pasting into the form below.

We may provide feedback and/or request a call to further discuss your proposal in more detail. Make sure you include as much relevant information as possible to support the team in being able to provide feedback on what to consider to help strengthen your application.

Your expression of interest should demonstrate how your idea and project proposal will have a positive impact on one or more of the following assessment criteria:

  • Increased turnover
  • Job creation or safeguarding
  • Market expansion or diversification
  • Improve productivity
  • Innovation or R&D
  • Workforce development, upskilling
  • Increased demand for your products or services
  • Increased customer satisfaction

Applicants that meet this assessment criteria will then be invited to submit a full application as part of Stage 2.

Stage 1:

Assessment criteria:

All proposals will be evaluated against the criteria listed below. An independent panel will make the final decision on funding awards based on the submission of full applications during Stage 2.

  • Strategic alignment –Proposals must address at least one of Surrey’s three strategic priorities.
  • Innovation – Demonstrate innovation and be future-oriented to help foster Surrey’s competitive advantages. Enhance and complement existing provision/offers and avoid duplication.
  • Scalability – Have the potential to support significant growth and be scaled regionally and/or across sectoral clusters.
  • Partnership and collaboration – Encourage collaboration between businesses, universities, schools, public sector, and other stakeholders.
  • Impact and legacy – Focus on long-term value creation, favouring initiatives that will create a lasting economic impact.
  • Place-based impact – Consider geographic spread of investment decisions and take a more targeted approach where necessary.
  • Deliverability and financial viability – Robust business cases that demonstrate sound financial planning, risk management strategies and appropriate experience.
